APC campaign suffers yet another setback, Ativie chased out of hometown

The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial campaign across wards and local government areas has suffered another major setback in Uhunmwode local government area, the home of APC former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon Elizabeth Ativie.

The APC campaign trail was Friday chased out of Uhunmwode.

At Irhue, Ward 4, Uhunmwode LGA,  the home town of the Deputy Speaker, Hon Ativie, the people of Oke community blocked the main road leading to their community and refused her entrance into the community. She was prevented from entering her home in Orhua village.

Mrs Ativie and the APC trail were chased out of the town over her alleged involvement in trading her Speakership position for N30 million and Prado Jeep.

At Isi North, Ward 7, the youth came out in their hundreds lynching members of the APC campaign trail in Eguaholor community & Oghada community.

The APC campaign team were rescued by a former Commissioner for Education who is an indigene of the areas.

At Umagbae, Ward 5, at Urhokuosa community, the APC campaign team were also chased out of the community by angry youths of Urhokuosa.

At Ohuan, Ward 9, Ebueneki community, the APC campaign team were deserted with no single native of the community came out to receive them.

At Egbede, Ward 10, at Uvbe Community the APC campaign team met a handful of people, who were not willing to listen to them.

A youth leader in Uhunmwode who spoke to Urhokpota Reporters, Mr Lucky George Itua, stated that Ativie was a shameless representative because of what she did by abdicating her position for money.

“APC is rejected in Uhunmwode LGA. The only project that we benefited under Oshiomhole and APC 8 years of waste is the Ugoneki – Isi road. Apart from that nothing. Yet that shameless woman had the guts to want to come to Uhunmwode after selling our collective mandate without giving us our share. September 10 we shall give her a good reply” Mr Itua said.

Hon Ativie is alleged to have traded her position of Speaker with the government in a swapping deal that saw the emergence of the former Deputy Speaker Hon Okounoboh, emerge as Speaker in a manner unknown to law.

The law spelt out the procedure for removing a Speaker which include; resignation, impeachment or death. None of the above happened in the case of Elizabeth Ativie.

This situation, coupled with the fact that Ativie retained her official Spenser’s car, office and still controls the House budget implementation, lead many to believe that Ativie is still the Speaker of the House.

Information available in the political circle is that immediately after the election Ativie would get back her position of Speaker through the courts or a reversal of roles as was done in her case, in which case the Esan people would be permanently shut  of government.
