Traditional rulers from Edo Central (Esanland) have criticized the Onojie of Opoji, HRH Ehidiamen Aidenojie, over his denial of their unanimous endorsement of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, saying his action and the attack on Chief Tony Anenih were not befitting of a traditional ruler.
The Ojuromi Kingdom, HRM Anslem Eidenojie 11, the Onogie of Ujiogba, HRH Solomon Ojeaga Izuware and the Onogie of Ewatto. S.O Ikhumen were among the traditional rulers who spoke with newsmen.
The Onogie of Uromi, HRM Eidenojie insisted that the traditional institution should not be dragged into political arena as being plotted by the Onojie of Opoji as he rebuffed claims by Aidenojie that Anenih precludes people from outside Uromi from his goodwill.
“If there is anybody marginalizing Esan land, it is the Onojie of Opoji who is trading with the development of his people and domain. Chief Anenih used his position to empower and develop Esanland, and we are very proud of him”, he said.
On his part, the Onojie of Ewatto who rejected a Prado Jeep from APC, HRH, S.O.Ikhumen, expressed displeasure over the recent utterances of the Onojie of Opoji, insisting that he was not in contest with anybody politically, but only a custodian of the customs and tradition of his people.
Also speaking on the same issue, the Onojie of Ujiogba, HRH Solomon Ojeaga Izuware 1, called on the Opoji monarch to stop dividing Esan land with his statements in the media.
He insisted that Esanland was not for sale just as he stated that the Vice-Chairman of the State Traditional Council was not hereditary but rotational. He said that Chief Tony Anenih who the Onojie of Opoji is constantly vilifying is, “a man of the people of Nigeria and not just an Esan man, he should also remember that all the traditional rulers in Esanland conferred the title of Iyasele of Esan land on him.
Chief Anenih is a father that we are all proud of, so, he should stop dragging his personality in the mud.”
