A 17-year-old reportedly armed with a rifle has been arrested near a school in the south of France following a shooting. The mayor's office says the incident was not terror related.

Eight people have been confirmed injured after shots were fired at a secondary school in the southern town of Grasse.
Sources close to the investigation said a highly armed intruder burst into the Alexis de Tocqueville high school and opened fire on pupils and the headmaster.
The news agency Reuters said that a 17-year old student armed with a rifle and unknown to the police has been arrested. Another person may be on the run, reports suggest. This has yet to be confirmed.
A special police unit is at the site.
The police have said it's too early to say if this was a terror attack.
Schools in the town have been locked down. Authorites have warned locals to stay at home.
Regional president Christian Estrosi wrote on Twitter that he was on his way to the school after he heard about the shooting, adding that the headmaster had reportedly been injured.
France is in a state of emergency following the deadly attacks in Paris in 2015 and last year in Nice, which is 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of Grasse, a town with a population of about 50,000.
Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve cut short a trip to the northern Somme area after news of the shooting, as well as a letter bomb blast at the offices of the International Monetary Fund in Paris.
